The third edition of Radio Mango 91.9 Idea Nattile Tharam 3, the on-ground mobile music reality show was launched on March 6, 2011. Recording studios plied on the road (Pattuvandi – vans), water (Pattuvanchi- boat), and air (Pattuthumbi – name chosen by listeners via a Facebook contest because of the helicopter’s similarity to a dragonfly) in order to reach participants everywhere. Nattile Tharam 3 auditioned 20,000 + participants in all 14 districts in Kerala.
Arun Raj from Kannur was crowned as the new Nattile Tharam at JT Performing Arts Centre (JTPAC) on May 1, 2011. Judges were Usha Uthup, Alphonse Joseph and Mamtha Mohandas. Radio Mango 91.9, Kerala’s first private FM channel had launched its state-wide musical reality show Nattile Tharam 1 on May 10, 2008.
